Hi readers!
I’ve been feeling under the weather for the past few days — and I also needed a mental health break.
So I took a few days to unplug and get grounded. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
Unplugging made me realize that maybe y’all need a recap once we’ve completed our exploration of a certain speech — before we move on to the next one.
For our final recap of the speeches we’ve studied so far, we’ll revisit FDR’s totally badass Address at Madison Square Garden during the reelection of 1936.
A little behind the scenes info: FDR fell as he was entering Madison Square Garden that night. He told his aides and Secret Service agents to “clean me up, dammit” and got right out there and gave the speech of his life.
That’s the fighting spirit we need, and he shows it again in the next speech I’ll be featuring.
